Career growth Monday-Friday Ongoing work The Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of traffic management on job sites. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety of workers, the public, and road users by implementing Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) that comply with legal and safety regulations. The STMS leads a team of Traffic Controllers (TCs), ensuring smooth operations, risk mitigation, and minimal disruption to traffic flow.

Key Responsibilities: Traffic Management Planning & Implementation: Assess site conditions and modify traffic setups as needed, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and minimizing traffic disruptions. Liaise with clients, local authorities, contractors, and project managers to confirm that TMPs are correctly implemented and tailored to the job site. Team Leadership & Supervision: Supervise, lead, and support a team of Traffic Controllers (TCs) to ensure efficient, safe traffic management activities. Train and mentor team members on safe practices, proper traffic control procedures, and equipment handling. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act , local traffic regulations, and industry standards. Perform regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and take preventative measures to avoid accidents or injuries. Report any incidents, near-misses, or safety concerns promptly and accurately to the appropriate authorities and management. Ensure that all workers are equipped with and are using the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Site Inspections & Monitoring: Conduct routine site inspections to ensure all traffic control measures are being followed, TMPs are effective, and the site remains safe for all personnel and road users. Address and resolve any issues that arise during traffic control operations, making adjustments to TMPs when necessary to adapt to changing site conditions. Monitor traffic flow to ensure minimal disruption to the public and safe passage through or around the worksite. Key Skills and Competencies: Leadership & Team Management: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, supervise, and mentor a team of Traffic Controllers. Capable of leading a team under pressure, ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining safety and quality standards. Health & Safety Awareness: A comprehensive understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act and relevant traffic safety legislation. Ability to conduct risk assessments and enforce safety protocols effectively. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, contractors, clients, and the public. Professional approach to handling complaints or inquiries and resolving conflicts diplomatically. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that TMPs are correctly implemented and that safety protocols are consistently upheld. Qualifications and Experience: STMS Level 1 certification Proven experience in traffic management , ideally in a supervisory role. A full, clean New Zealand driver's license .
