School Caretaker And Groundperson Positions

Cornerstone Christian School is a State-Integrated Special (Christian) Character Area School in Palmerston North. The school has a roll of just over 600 (year 1-13 students) and a staff team of 100. It is a supportive, friendly and welcoming place to work with great coffee! Due to a restructuring of the existing caretaker and groundsperson roles at Cornerstone Christian School, we are seeking applicants for two permanent roles to start in January 2025:
Lead CaretakerGroundspersonBoth positions are for 8hrs per day, Monday – Friday, 45 weeks per year (40 weeks during term time, plus 5 weeks spread out during the school holiday breaks as negotiated/required).
The Lead Caretaker and Groundsperson will alternate early starts and late finishes on a weekly or fortnightly basis (negotiable) to ensure we have onsite coverage from 7.30am – 6.30pm.
The Caretaker role is a lead role which includes being able to project manage the safety, maintenance, cleanliness and general condition of all the property and grounds operated by or under the control of the Cornerstone Christian School Board at present or in the future. They will need to be proactive around setting up new systems and processes to manage this at Cornerstone Christian School. 
The Groundsperson role is to care for and maintain the school gardens and grounds and carry out all duties in the schedule, during the working hours as agreed and to work alongside the Lead Caretaker to share tasks where required.
The successful Lead Caretaker and Groundsperson applicants will need to be able to fulfil all requirements as laid out in the Caretaker and Groundsperson Job Descriptions.
Salary to be negotiated with a base rate of the living wage of $27.80.
 The terms and conditions of employment for ground staff in area and secondary schools are now covered by the School Caretakers', Cleaners', Canteen or Ground Staff Collective Agreement. To be covered by the collective agreement, you will need to be a member of E tu (union). Employees who are not union members will be employed under an individual employment agreement. 
All staff employed by Cornerstone Christian School must be willing to support and uphold the special (Christian) character of the school and is a condition of appointment.
