Our Sterilisation Services play a vital role in supporting the hospital clinical teams by ensuring all medical instruments and equipment are meticulously cleaned, sterilised, and ready for safe patient use. The service operates using advanced sterilisation technology and follows strict infection control standards to prevent contamination and ensure the highest level of patient safety.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated Sterilisation team. Our team works on the background to decontaminate, inspect, package, and sterilise equipment used in surgeries and other medical procedures. This essential service contributes to the hospital's efficiency, safety, and commitment to providing outstanding healthcare to our community.
As a Sterilise Services Technician, you will:
Work alongside a team of skilled professionals in a friendly, patient-centred environment.
Work closely with clinical teams to meet equipment needs and ensure timely availability of sterilised items.
Perform decontamination, inspection, packaging, and sterilisation of medical instruments and equipment according to hospital protocols and infection control standards.
Conduct thorough checks on all sterilised items to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and readiness for use in patient care.
You will participate in a 24/7 rotating Monday to Sunday shift roster and participate in the after hours on-call.
The full-time equivalent salary range for Sterile Services Technician working 80 hours a week is $65,842-75,471 (step 1-4 Non-degree qualified) based on the current PSA Allied Health Collective Agreement depending on skills, experience, and registration in NZ.

The ideal applicant will have:
A qualification recognised by the New Zealand Sterile Services Association (NZSSA)
High standard for accuracy and thoroughness in sterilisation procedures
Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Ability to stand for long periods of time and handle the physical demands of sterilisation processes.
Commitment to high standards of patient care.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ work visa at the time of applying.
