Mo te tunga | About the role
Station Support Officers (SSO) are pivotal to the efficient and effective delivery of front counter and back-office services within a police station. This role has two main functions – delivery of public counter services and back-office functions in support of the frontline at Wellington Central Police Station.
Every day is different, and you will be dealing with challenging situations that require professionalism, respect, empathy and a positive manner. The successful applicant must possess a range of interpersonal skills to be effective in this role.
Public counter duties include dealing with Victims, assessing their needs and taking minor complaints and reports; and managing visitors and contractors. Back-office functions include management of exhibits, found property, ordering of supplies, managing courier and mail services, and acting as a general font of knowledge for the smooth operation of the station. The successful applicant must have sound computer skills and ability to learn new systems and applications.
This role is required to work shifts covering the period between 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 pm Monday to Friday and between 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends and variable hours on public holidays.
Key Accountabilities:

Dealing with challenging circumstances in a customer services environment
Managing challenging situations involving members of the public in a professional, respectful, and empathetic manner.
Recording of complaints from members of the public, answering general inquiries and performing reception duties such managing contractor / visitor access.
Managing exhibit, drug and found property stores, assembling Court files for initial hearings, ordering of supplies, managing courier deliveries, and acting as a general font of knowledge.
Working collegially as part of a team of seven that report to a Customer Services Manager.

A sound knowledge of computer applications, in particular NIA and Microsoft suites
Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to work hard in a team environment.

Manage time effectively to complete multiple files and meet deadlines.

This role is set at Individual Contributor level, this means your key purpose is "to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business".
Utu a-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $69,337 and $72,430 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
