The Opportunity NZGP is a branch within The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). We have a vision for New Zealand's government procurement to be fair, transparent, inclusive, and efficient. It will deliver more value and respond to changing government priorities.
While we live and breathe procurement, our branch is a support function to those doing the mahi in the procurement system – government agencies and the suppliers and providers they work with. We are less of a procurement shop than a shop filled with data, systems, communications, contract and project management people who love procurement. And yes, we have some procurement specialists!
Skills and Experience Required
We're keen to hear from you if you have:
Experience delivering strategic communications and engagement.
Knowledge of best practice communications and engagement.
Excellent writing, editing and oral communications skills, able to design and deliver written communications material and tailor messages to different audiences, and through different channels.
Experience managing digital communications channels.
Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or New Zealand permanent residents and be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearances.
This is a full-time role. We are open to you working flexibly in a full-time role. Talk to us about what will work for you.
Why work for us? We are passionate about what the system is already delivering – outcomes that are wider than the delivery of a contract for goods and services. We love to see contracts that build in targets to reduce emissions, support workers and businesses, or reduce waste and strengthen relationships with iwi. Our ambition is to keep delivering more and for even greater procurement delivery.
We aim to create a culture where staff are empowered to bring fresh perspectives to issues and to think outside the box. We encourage excellence and proactively support development through on-the-job learning, training courses, and development programmes.
MBIE's goal is to create a resilient and high-performing economy that delivers real and ongoing quality of life for all New Zealanders.
People are at the heart of our mahi, our way of working is guided by our values which shape our behaviours.
Maia – Bold and brave
Pae Kahurangi – Build our Future
Our aspirations are echoed in our Maori identity – Hikina Whakatutuki – which broadly means 'lifting to make successful'.
MBIE recognises the partnership founded under Te Tiriti o Waitangi between Maori and the Crown and is committed to giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through enduring, meaningful and effective partnerships with iwi, Maori, and other Maori groups/organisations.
Applications close on Sunday, 03 November (midnight).
