Sports, sports and more sports… Looking for a new Reporter role in 2025. Unique opportunity to be our Sports Reporter in the Wellington Newsroom for Te Reo Tataki, TVNZ.
The opportunity - Te turanga Our vision is to be the number one streamer for trusted news, sport and entertainment.
In this key role, you will be responsible for reporting, producing and presenting on a full range of sports stories and sports news content for TVNZ programmes and platforms.
Your focus will be on:
Delivering original reporter-produced packages/stories on time and to duration.Establishing and maintaining familiarity with the daily sports news and ongoing issues through press releases, media reports and industry contacts.Reporting live from the field, as required.Developing contacts in the wider Wellington region, from those who play the games to those who administer them.To be successful in this role, we are looking for: Strong knowledge of New Zealand sporting codes, events and personalities.Established contacts, particularly in the wider Wellington region, to assist story generation.Ability to break and uncover unique and original stories.Proven ability to write to pictures and edit compelling stories.Ability to present from the studio and in the field.Good knowledge of the broadcasting industry.Maintains good general knowledge and a keen awareness of local, international and international sports events.Experience as a sports journalist in a major newsroom preferred.Apply Now - applications close on Thursday 19th December.
