We are looking for a reliable and considerate colleague to join our small but efficient team in the role of Oral Surgery Assistant for our Oral Surgeon, Dr Peter Hill. A good handover period and training from our on-site and off-site staff will ease the transition into this unique role. You will be working in a spacious modern practice conveniently located in Remarkables Park shopping centre with weekday hours and no evening or weekends. This is a part-time role, the roster is set out as below (averaging 40 hours per fortnight): Week one: OFF Week two: 30-35 hours (Tuesday - Friday) Week three: 30-35 hours (Monday - Thursday) Week four: 6 hours (Wednesday morning) Key Responsibilities: As a Surgical Assistant at Queenstown Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our practice and the comfort of our patients. Your specific responsibilities will include: Following strict Infection Control Protocols to ensure the safety and protection of patients and staff. Assisting the Oral Surgeon with all aspects of clinical treatment, including: Providing professional and safe surgical assistance during treatments, ensuring adherence to correct procedures and safety protocols. Setting up the operatory for each dental treatment, ensuring all necessary equipment and materials are prepared. Performing safe and efficient room changeovers between appointments, following standard procedures. Ensuring appointments run smoothly and on time by preparing treatment rooms in advance, keeping them well-stocked and organized. Documenting patient details, appointment notes, clinical notes, and treatment plans accurately as directed by the provider. Maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation in treatment rooms during and between appointments. Performing sterilisation and lab work duties, ensuring all instruments are properly cleaned and ready for use. Assisting in taking and processing dental X-rays & 3D CBCT imaging. Providing patient care and support, including explaining procedures and answering questions. Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times, both within and outside of work. Assisting the front office team, including: Scheduling and confirming patient appointments. Processing referrals. Greeting patients in person and over the phone in a friendly and professional manner. Responding to patient emails and queries. Processing payments and managing patient files. Assisting with other admin duties as requested. Personal Qualities: Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, as well as organizational skills to manage patient records and scheduling. Basic computer skills and proficiency with electronic health record software is preferred. Detail-oriented, professional, empathetic, and patient-focused.
