Dunedin Hospital has 300 beds and services the Southern region which covers a population of around 340,000. The Anaesthesia Service delivers contemporary high quality care and is supported by our well-trained technicians and PACU staff. This is also an exciting time to join as our service prepares for the New Dunedin Hospital. As a Specialist Anaesthetist, you'll be expected to provide anaesthesia for a mix of general lists covering a broad range of specialist services. You will also be expected to provide afterhours cover and participate on a 1:8 call roster. We are a tertiary level teaching hospital with a full range of elective and acute surgical specialities and can offer you a varied and challenging array of anaesthesia work. Ideally, we are looking for someone with the following skills and experience to complement our team:

Appointed specialists will possess FANZCA or an equivalent qualification allowing a vocational registration with the NZ Medical Council. The Health New Zealand - Southern recruitment team are able to provide support in applying or renewing previous vocational registration. Applications from overseas physicians who had previous vocational registration are welcomed.

This role belongs to the ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between the Step 1 ($185,380) and Step 15 ($267,980 p.a prorata).
