Join our committed, collaborative team at Mt Richmond Special School, working with students aged 5-21 years. We are offering 1 Scale A teacher full-time permanent position, starting in term 1, 2025.
The ideal candidate will:
Be a New Zealand registered primary teacher with experience of primary level students with special needs
Have knowledge of autism (advantageous)
Have a special education qualification and/or have participated in professional development relevant to students with special needs or challenges
Have experience working in innovative learning environments and knowledge of the Reggio Emilia philosophy (advantageous)
Have a basic working knowledge of Te Reo Maori or a Pasifika language/s
The successful candidate will have the following essential skills:
Have compassion for and recognise the learning potential of students with high and complex needs
Competency in digital integration and a range of skills that assist students to learn. These may include social stories, functional analysis of comprehension and behaviour and Personalised Learning Plans
Ability to establish collaborative relationships with colleagues across disciplines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to lead and work with teams, as well as whanau/caregivers in a caring and supportive manner
A sense of humour, flexible approach, and effective organisational skills
Terms and conditions
The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the current Primary Teachers Collective Agreement (PTCA). The base salary range for trained and registered teachers is dependent on the applicant's qualifications and experience. An individual's actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
