Opened in September 2020 has quickly become one of Auckland's popular restaurants.About the role:We are seeking an exceptional Sous Chef to join our team at the award-winning Onemata restaurant at Park Hyatt Auckland. As Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in delivering an exceptional dining experience to our guests. This is a full-time position based in the heart of Auckland CBD.What you'll be doingAssist the Head Chef in the overall management of the kitchen operation, including menu planning, food preparation, and quality controlOversee the day-to-day kitchen activities, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to food safety and hygiene standardsTrain, mentor, and supervise the kitchen team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environmentActively participate in the creation and development of new and innovative menu itemsCollaborate with the Head Chef to control food and labour costs while maintaining high-quality standardsAssist in the ordering and management of kitchen supplies and inventoryEnsure the kitchen operates in compliance with all relevant health and safety regulationsWhat we're looking forMinimum of 2 years' experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent role in a reputable restaurant or hotelProven track record of leading and developing a kitchen teamStrong working knowledge of food preparation techniques, menu planning, and cost controlExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environmentPassion for creating innovative and high-quality cuisineStrong problem-solving and time management skillsProficiency in using kitchen equipment and technologyApplicants should have legal working rights in New ZealandA career with Hyatt opens a world of opportunities.
