Job Title: Sous Chef 
Location: Kenzo Restaurant, 21 Humphreys Drive, Ferrymead, Christchurch 8023
Number of Positions: 1
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
Days Required: Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Mondays)
Hours per Week: Minimum 30 hours guaranteed, up to 48 hours depending on business needs
Hourly Rate/Salary Band: $29.66 to $32 per hour depending on skills and experience 
Job Description:  Kenzo Restaurant is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our dedicated and passionate team. Our restaurant is renowned for offering both traditional and innovative Japanese dishes crafted from the finest ingredients, paired with an extensive wine and sake list. As a Sous Chef, you will play a critical role in maintaining our reputation for excellence in Japanese cuisine.
Key Responsibilities:  - Prepare and cook traditional Japanese dishes, including sushi, tempura, and sashimi  - Develop and create innovative menus  - Ensure the highest quality standards in food preparation and presentation  - Work collaboratively with our small, close-knit team to maintain a smooth kitchen operation  - Oversee and guide kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations
Job Prerequisites:  - A minimum of 3 years of commercial chef experience, with a focus on Japanese cuisine  - Strong experience with traditional Japanese dishes such as sushi, tempura, and sashimi  - Demonstrated ability to create innovative food menus- Must be available to work weekends and public holidays
