About the team Our Application Services team in our award-winning ICT division helps ensure that electricity is delivered to all New Zealanders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by maintaining and evolving complex critical IT systems. The business domain we work within ensures there are always new and interesting challenges to address and that the work we do matters - electricity is critical to our economy, our health system, and the wellbeing of our citizens!
We've been changing at a rapid pace, using new technologies to engineer modern web/mobile applications, intelligent AI/ML embedded automation to streamline workflows and functions, and adopting open-source software and DevOps methodologies to accelerate product delivery.
About the opportunity As a senior member of our team, you'll provide Solution Architecture and technical leadership to project delivery of IT solutions to business problems. You'll have a specific focus on developing and enhancing custom/customized solutions using modern technologies, open-source software, and reusable frameworks. As a Solution Architect, you will also lead the selection, evaluation, and implementation of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions to supplement our internally developed functionality.
You'll also support the Principal Architect roles in strategy/architecture and delivery teams creating and maintaining the Transpower ICT Portfolio Plans and Roadmaps. Information Services & Technology (IST) Solution Architectures enable fit for purpose IST information and technology solutions to be acquired/built and operated to economically meet business requirements.

What you'll bring You have depth and breadth of experience in all aspects of ICT service design, delivery, and operations, and outstanding communication skills that allow you to engage at every level of the organisation. You've led the technical delivery of architecturally significant and complex projects and have been accountable for the technical solution end-to-end, driving both technology and innovative business solutions to successfully deliver great enterprise outcomes!

To be considered, your CV and cover letter will demonstrate: Significant experience in solution architecture, design, development, and integration of enterprise-scale applications. Hands-on development experience with modern technologies. Experience and understanding of application, integration, platform, security, network, and infrastructure architectures and technologies. Experience in options analysis and selection through a commercial procurement exercise (RFI/RFPs); including implementing and handling customization of commercial-off-the-shelf solutions. Experience in DevOps environments and designing for operations. Flexibility and adaptability to work in a changing environment and provide assistance where needed. You'll be passionate about delivery and quality and have a desire to learn and share your knowledge with others. Your ability to translate user needs into technical designs and specifications and build positive relationships with peers and stakeholders will be the key to your success.
