Service Coordinator

Details of the offer

Is your management style friendly and supportive? Are you organised (most of the time)? Do you want to make life easier for disabled kids and their families? Come and join our friendly team!

Diverse portfolio - we are growing fast!A friendly team who look out for each otherPay between $70,500 and $80,500, plus on-call allowance, plus car and fuel card Service Coordinator Spectrum Care provides support for people with intellectual disabilities and their whanau. We're currently searching for a service coordinator to join our small team based in Bouverie St, Petone. The successful applicant will work within a small but strong team of 5 welcoming and supportive coordinators, mainly based in our office in Petone but working throughout Wellington, the Hutt Valley, and Porirua. There is opportunity to work from home some of the time, and a car and fuel card is provided, with the car being available for personal use.
Reporting to the regional manager, the service coordinator is responsible for the recruitment and management of support workers, and forming great relationships with disabled people and their families so we can better suit their needs. They also imagine and lead the development of initiatives that improve the quality and quantity of services we offer. This position will most likely involve managing our children's services, currently comprising two respite houses, two school holiday programmes, and a small vocational service for young adults with higher needs. However, we also run services supporting adults at home and vocationally, so these are also possibilities for the future. Service coordinators normally work office hours but do need to have some flexibility, as occasionally they may need to attend evening appointments. There is also an on-call component covering non-office hours, which is currently once every 6 weeks for one week, paid at $9 an hour during non-office hours. During this time you need to be available to staff across the region who may need to phone you for guidance.
For the right person, this will be a demanding but exciting, evolving role, allowing you to operate at the forefront of good practice within the sector. We want to assist disabled people to live good lives, working closely with them and their whanau, with our actions underpinned by Enabling Good Lives principles. We are fortunate in having wonderful support workers, although currently not enough of them - finding good staff in partnership with our in-house recruitment advisor will be part of your role. You will need to be both agile and organised, ready to get routine work completed but also flex to meet whatever challenge each day brings. This isn't easy work, and we are not perfect, but we are trying hard to be what disabled people need from us. Certainly, this role comes with both joy and challenges, and very few dull moments!
We want to find our next wonderful manager very quickly, therefore this application closes on Monday 9th December 2024, so if you are interested, get in touch very soon!
