New technology is evolving rapidly, decarbonisation and a fully renewable NZ electricity sector are priorities with evolving changes that are challenging and disrupting both the traditional electricity value chain and economic models for centralised generation, transmission and distribution of electricity.Job DescriptionWhat you'll be doingAs a Senior Wholesale Commercial Analyst you will work in conjunction with the rest of the Wholesale Development team to support future improvement and risk management focused activity across the business unit.A key component of the Wholesale businesses value chain is Market Settlements function. Your role will provide value by delivering accurate and timely processing of wholesale transactions through appropriate systems together with ongoing monitoring of wholesale customer exposures. Delivery of these activities provides comfort to the Wholesale Markets team that they have accurate positions to trade to on the wholesale market to manage risk and maximise value.Other accountabilities include:Maintain processes, data and manage settlement for all Wholesale operations.Support delivery of Meridian's disclosure obligations.Monitor and report daily and forward settlement positions.Manage and report prudential obligations under the Code.Ensure commodity contract clauses are monitored, calculated and amended as appropriate and take the lead for advising internal and external customers.What you'll bringOur ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in business, commercial, information or related disciplines, as well as having strong quality control, and being customer focused, highly organised and detailed oriented.We're looking for a process oriented person, with the ability to think critically and creatively about ways to improve.Other skills and experience includes:High level of analytical and problem solving ability.Strong interpersonal skills.Expert communication and collaboration.Curiosity to learn and desire to innovate.High level of computer literacy including financial management systems, the ability to query data warehouse, Oracle system experience, Excel (Macro level) and database development / data modelling skills.Experience within the electricity markets, financial markets, settlement operations or similar an advantage.Why Meridian?At Meridian, we value all people.
