Mo te tunga | About the role The Senior Technical Advisor is the lead advisor responsible for providing maintenance support policy, technical advice and engineering support on sensing and optical operational equipment for the Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO).
Equipment includes Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Night Observation (STANO) devices, optical and electronic equipment, and fire control systems (FCS).
You will develop cost effective solutions that are operationally feasible and safe within the bounds of the engineering regulatory framework, and with due regard to the principles of maintenance support.
You will be responsible for providing engineering advice regarding obsolescence management, engineering changes, publication management, base repair, and overhaul and maintenance policy.
You will uphold the Logistic Support Agreement with the Original equipment Manufacturers.
This role is based in Trentham, Upper Hutt.
There is free on street parking and a train station nearby.
You will be expected to work primarily in the office however flexible working options are negotiable.
Occasional travel is required.

Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and Experience You will have a strong background in engineering fundamentals and the operation and repair of land sensing, electro/optical equipment.
This includes FCS, Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), simulation systems, STANO equipment, and other sensor equipment.
Experience in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and a thorough understanding of Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 requirements would be highly advantageous.
Key attributes we are looking for include: Excellent analytical and communication skills, including technical writing.
Networking skills with the ability to work with stakeholders to solve technical problems.
Effective relationship management and communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical information and provide training.
Experience in equipment and quality systems evaluations.
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and SAP programmes.
A tertiary qualification in electronics or engineering is advantageous.

You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
