About the role
In this highly relationship-based role, you'll be the go-to expert on engagement and communication strategies within the Environmental Services department. Your efforts will ensure that Auckland Council continues to deliver on its mission to serve Aucklanders, partnering with mana whenua and community stakeholders to achieve outcomes that benefit Tamaki Makaurau.
Key Responsibilities: Lead Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary advisor for engagement and communication needs across the department, ensuring a best-practice approach.Strategic Communications: Develop, implement, and monitor a departmental communications plan, regularly reporting progress to senior leaders.Project Leadership: Oversee stakeholder engagement and communication workstreams for complex, high-profile projects.Upskill Teams: Mentor colleagues in creating quality content and delivering effective external communications.About You
You are an experienced relationship builder with a proven ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes, handle sensitive issues, and deliver results. Your ability to adapt and prioritise ensures you thrive in dynamic environments where your strategic insight makes a lasting impact.
You Will Bring: Approx 7 years in stakeholder management, community engagement, or similar roles.Relevant tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, or a related field.IAP2 certification and/or demonstrated experience leading engagement initiatives.Strong knowledge of te ao Maori and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.A strong interest in protecting and enhancing the natural environment.Nga ahuatanga kei a matou: What we offer
