Business Development Manager (Consumer Goods)

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Manager to join our Consumer Goods division. This role will also encompass responsibilities within our recent acquisition in the beauty and fragrance sector. As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, securing, and developing new business opportunities within New Zealand's FMCG sector. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll build long-term partnerships and implement strategic initiatives to drive market share and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and Develop New Business Opportunities : Proactively target and seek new clients, growing DKSH's presence in the FMCG market.
Lead Sales Pitches and Proposals : Oversee the end-to-end process of business proposals, pitches, and contract negotiations to win new clients and ensure successful deal closure.
Market Research and Strategy : Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and emerging consumer needs to inform business strategies and capitalise on growth opportunities.
Client Relationship Management : Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, fostering long-term partnerships that enhance their brand's success in the New Zealand market.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams : Work with internal departments including sales, marketing, finance, and operations to ensure alignment and smooth execution of business initiatives.
Financial and Performance Management : Ensure that new business opportunities contribute positively to the company's P&L, regularly providing accurate financial forecasts and meeting annual financial targets.
About You:
We're looking for a strategic thinker with a passion for business growth and a deep understanding of the FMCG landscape. You will need to be commercially savvy, an excellent communicator, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Skills and Experience:
Proven experience in business development or sales within the FMCG industry.
Strong understanding of sales processes, market dynamics, and P&L management.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to build and sustain client relationships.
Possess strong influencing skills, with the ability to bring together alternative points of view.
Exhibit strong conflict management skills, ensuring smooth collaboration and focused efforts toward shared goals.
Analytical abilities with experience in market research, competitive analysis, and strategic planning.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive results.
High level of resilience and adaptability in a rapidly changing market.
Strong exposure to Aztec and/or Nielsen (preferred).
