As a Senior Specialist, Agency Underwriting, you will provide quality underwriting solutions through referral underwriting for IAG Agency business. The role will deliver a range of underwriting solutions to the Agency business and will build highly effective relationships with key Agency stakeholders.
The role provides technical commercial underwriting skills that support the managed agency strategy. You will be expected to manage work in a fast-paced environment, be confident and comfortable having and increasing delegations, be serious about underwriting, able to think quickly on your feet, and displaying initiative and be commercially sound.
Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for managing both simple and complex underwriting referrals from Agency business, within IAG NZ underwriting guidelines and strategy.Contribute to the reviews of Agency underwriting guidelines and manuals, to ensure they are fit for purpose and consistent with IAG NZ underwriting principles.Build highly collaborative relationships with all key Agency stakeholders – Portfolio, Pricing, Product, Legal, Finance, Risk & Assurance.Collaboration with, and support of, the Agency Governance specialists to facilitate strong risk outcomes.Develop and implement training for Agency underwriting teams.Provide guidance on specialised underwriting solutions for Agency business.Play an active role in business operations in the agency space.This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity with hybrid working conditions and is open to our IAG office in Auckland.
In order to be successful in this role, you'll ideally meet the below criteria:
Minimum 5 years underwriting experience in a Commercial Lines environment.Minimum level C Commercial Underwriting Delegations and experience in using them.Technical specialist knowledge of underwriting principles, pricing, product wordings and coverage.Experience and commitment to providing superior customer service to all internal and external stakeholders.Forward thinking, displays initiative and drive.Effective communication skills: Active listening, verbal and written.Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.Interest in coaching and educating others on the technical side of underwriting.Applications close on Friday, 11 of October 2024 at 11.59pm.
