About The opportunity | Ko te aheinga:
Hawke's Bay Regional Council is seeking a Senior Solicitor to join our Legal, Compliance and Risk Team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the protection and management of our region's precious natural resources while providing high-quality legal advice across the organisation.
Key aspects of the role include:

Providing expert legal counsel on a wide range of matters affecting the Council
Supporting the Chief Legal Advisor in managing legal risks and compliance
Participating in negotiations, mediations, and legal proceedings
Conducting legal and organisational risk training
Enhancing legal awareness and capability across the Council

We're looking for a legal professional with:

A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and admission as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand
A current legal practicing certificate from the New Zealand Law Society
7+ years of post-qualification experience, preferably with in-house legal experience in the public sector
Expertise in commercial law, including contract negotiation and regulatory compliance
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Knowledge of risk management, audit frameworks, and local government legislation
A collaborative working style and high level of personal resilience

What we offer | Nga huanga mou:
The salary range for this role is between $126,540 - $140,600 and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
