About the team Our Application Services team helps ensure that electricity is delivered to all New Zealanders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by maintaining and evolving complex critical IT systems. The business domain we work within ensures there are always new and interesting challenges to tackle and that the work we do matters - electricity is essential to our economy, our health system, and all facets of the functioning of society and wellbeing of our citizens.

About the Opportunity As a key member of our collaborative Application Services Development team, you'll be fully involved in developing, enhancing, and operating mission-critical IT systems for Transpower that are a key part of running the NZ electricity grid and electricity market in real time. Your work will ensure:
Technology-based enhancements or functionalities are delivered to internal clients with minimal cost and time delays. Applications are designed in line with the Architectural Roadmap and to specified standards and defined good practice. New capabilities for users are introduced by understanding their needs and exposing users to the available capabilities of technology through new developments. You'll work on a wide range of interesting projects, including on-premises web application development, application integration, and some cloud-based application development. The work will be a mixture of new software delivery, major/minor enhancements of existing systems, lifecycle upgrades of the technology stack associated with applications, and integration of SaaS / commercial software.
About you As an experienced Software Engineer, you'll be required to think broadly to understand how your work contributes to the wider systems and strategic direction of Transpower, leveraging your product development background and experience working across software development and operations.
Most importantly, you're passionate about software delivery and quality, and have a desire to learn and share your knowledge with others in support of growing capability.
To be considered your CV and cover letter will demonstrate: 5+ years of analysis, design, and programming experience. Experience working with applications DevOps toolchains for continuous build, integration, packaging, and deployment. Experience in large scale application integration and the use of enterprise integration patterns. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of a broad range of hardware and software products. You'll be able to demonstrate skills at a senior level for these languages and frameworks:
