RNZ is New Zealand's only non-commercial public multimedia organisation and exists solely to serve the public interest by providing unique, impartial services and content to all New Zealanders. Part of RNZ's strategy involves continuing to expand our digital content and distribution to connect with a growing and increasingly diverse audience.
This role helps set the tone and direction of our Rural news for programmes like Morning Report and across our website. You will work within a small team but take responsibility for the news.
The Senior Rurals Reporter role reports into the Executive Editor in charge of Verticals. There is shift work involved, though mostly it is Monday to Friday.
As part of the role, you will read and produce the spoken bulletins on Morning and Midday Reports, so a good broadcasting voice or at least knowledge of broadcasting is a plus.

Journalism experience is essential
A knowledge of rural issues will be a big part of our hiring
An interest in developing management skills
Able to work shift work
Broadcasting experience welcome (we do test for vocal presentation)
