Key areas of focus will be engagement with catchment groups, growing the pipeline of landowners to participate in the L4L project and coordinate the end to end engagement with landowners. The person appointed to this role will do this by collaborating with and supporting rural advisors, catchment advisors and the wider HBRC Catchment Team. They also work with internal and external agencies on communications, extension, and other delivery functions to support L4L.As our Senior Rural Advisor for Land for Life Engagement, you'll be at the forefront of driving positive change in our rural communities. You will work closely with farmers, catchment groups, and industry partners to implement sustainable land management practices and support the transition to more regenerative farming systems. If you are passionate about working collaboratively with rural communities and driving meaningful change, we want to hear from you.To be successful in this role, you will need:You hold a relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent tertiary qualification, or be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge from previous roles.You bring at least 3 years' experience in sustainable forestry management or providing primary sector and farming system technical adviceYou're well-versed in farm planning concepts and have a strong understanding of various farming systemsYou have a proven track record of independently leading engagement within rural communities, including working with Tangata WhenuaYou possess excellent project management skills and are comfortable managing budgets and reportingYou're experienced with farm planning, spatial planning/mapping tools or other farm and management tools.You have sound commercial understanding and experience with farm finances and managementYou're a natural relationship builder with excellent interpersonal skillsYou bring an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and value incorporating Te Reo Maori in practical waysYou're adaptable, innovative, and capable of working independentlyYou hold a valid driver's license and are willing to travel within the regionThe salary range for this role is between $91,890 to $102,100 and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
