Hawkes Bay Community Law Centre – Hastings, North Island HAWKE'S BAY COMMUNITY LAW CENTRE STAFF SOLICITOR We need help to address the unmet legal needs of the people of Hawke's Bay so are seeking to recruit a barrister and/or solicitor who is committed to access to justice and making a real and lasting difference. The work of a community lawyer is stimulating, diverse, enormously satisfying and requires a high level of motivation and a commitment to professional and personal excellence. The Position This is preferably a full-time (37.5 hrs p/wk) position based mainly in Hastings, although we would consider part-time hours for the right candidate. All solicitors receive five weeks annual leave, funded professional development, and an annual practising certificate. Salary is competitive and dependent on experience. What will you need to bring with you? a commitment to providing legal services to low income and marginalised people. a current Practising Certificate as a Solicitor and/or a Barrister in New Zealand and the right to work in NZ. at least 2-5 years PQE. the ability to work collaboratively to develop services that expand access to justice, remove barriers and incorporate our commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi. broad legal experience relevant to our clients, although there is potential for specialisation. excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and file management skills. the ability to provide legal advice that is accurate and accessible to individuals from all backgrounds and cultural groups. adherence to professional standards of ethics and conduct. a valid New Zealand driver licence.
