Rarangi Utu a-Matauranga - Education Payroll Limited (EPL) is a Crown entity that delivers pay to schools and kura on behalf of the Ministry of Education.
With around 200 employees, we deliver one of the largest and most complex payrolls in Australasia.
The combination of great people and cutting-edge technology enable us to pay around 100,000 teachers and support staff across around 2,500 schools accurately and on time every fortnight.
That's approximately $283 million a fortnight and $7.4 billion per annum.
The Senior Risk Advisor will support the Hautu Finance and Performance to embed risk management practices across Education Payroll.
In this role you will be the point of contact to leaders, ensuring risks are managed effectively.
You will provide high quality advice on risk and help embed a strong risk culture across Education Payroll and support tactical and operational risk management and reporting.
If successful, you'll be appointed between $88,000 and $110,000 per annum depending on experience and capability.
Because of the highly collaborative nature of our work, Education Payroll is primarily an office-based workplace.
Our office is in central Wellington, close to the train station for an easy commute.
We do offer flexible working arrangements after the initial onboarding period.
Key accountabilities: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential risks to Education Payroll.
Implement the risk management policy and framework that aligns with Education Payroll's goals and regulatory requirements.
Design and deliver training risks training programs to lift risk management maturity across the organisation.
Demonstrate clear and open risk communication and escalate informed enterprise risk activities.
Facilitate and hold strategic risk discussions with senior leaders and external providers.
Prepare quality reports for leaders and governance on risk reporting.
Lift the risk management maturity across EPL staff to continuously improve risk management awareness and practices across the organisation.
To be successful in this role you will need to: Have a minimum of three years risk management practice experience.
Have an understanding of the education/payroll ecosystem.
Have the ability to work as a business partner and build trusting relationships with the business and risk functions.
Display a collaborative and inclusive work approach with strong communication skills.
Possess strong leadership and influencing skills and experience in facilitating strategic discussions.
Have sound risk management knowledge and experience in commercial and operational decision-making settings within a public sector context and complex ecosystem.
Have a good understanding, knowledge, and experience of the ISO31000 risk management framework and in leading organisational risk management.
