Type: Permanent
Hours: Full time
Location: Wellington
Business Group: Governance Risk and Assurance
Branch: Maori, Strategy and Performance
Salary: $84,484 - $113,465
Play a key role in driving excellence in executive governance practice. Enjoy a fast-paced yet supportive work environment. Support executive decision-making in a Department that makes a real difference to the lives of New Zealanders.
Working at the Department of Internal Affairs, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of New Zealanders. You'll be part of the Maori Strategy and Performance Branch; a small branch with a big job. We provide direction, oversight, and leadership across Internal Affairs on strategic planning, legal services, and governance, risk, and assurance.
As a Senior Advisor within the executive governance function, you'll help provide stewardship and support delivery of the governance system for the Department. The team is operating well, and we are looking for someone who can help us improve our effectiveness even further.
This role supports the Manager Executive Governance with the delivery of high-quality services and advice within a fast-paced governance system. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working alongside senior leaders and leading through influence rather than authority to achieve results.
The role involves a variety of advisory and support functions, including working with Chairs and Deputy Chairs (tiers 2 and 3) to develop committee work programmes, compiling agendas, minuting meetings, and engaging across the organisation in support of our governance committees. It also supports the continuous improvement of the system, recommending and implementing enhancements.
To be successful in this role, you will:
Have a high standard of written work and an eye for detail.
Exercise sound judgement and tact in engaging with a range of stakeholders including the Department's senior leaders.
Have experience building and maintaining strong and effective working relationships.
Be comfortable managing competing deadlines and priorities.
Be a team player and enjoy collaborating with others to deliver results.
Prior experience in providing governance support to committees or teams is ideal, but not a requirement.
If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you.
We are an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion. We recognise a diverse workforce contributes to better business outcomes. We are committed to creating a workplace where all employees have equal access.
As Health, Safety and Wellbeing of our kaimahi is important, Internal Affairs has a Covid-19 Vaccination Policy. Under this policy, employment with the Department is conditional on holding and maintaining a valid My Vaccine Pass.
Applications close: 5pm, Friday, 1 November 2024.
