The Auckland Mainland team are seeking a Senior Ranger, Community to join their passionate and focused Operations team working on important conservation initiatives. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for taking a strategic lead and delivery of the district's community, advocacy, stakeholder and business relationship management, and permissions monitoring.
The work draws in a wide range of partners across the district: iwi, community groups, business groups and other agencies. Working in partnership with these groups to achieve improved outcomes for conservation is a key priority for this role and you will be able to showcase your engagement and relationship skills across many different fields.
As part of the District Leadership team, you will work with supervisors to understand and plan priorities for the district. You'll also:
lead planning and monitoring of the annual, quarterly and monthly work programmes for the operations manager,plan, phase and track budget, identify critical cost pressures and recommend solutions,Develop and lead relationships with key stakeholders and community groups,lead colleagues to plan and coordinate community outreach and events,lead event management, including Ministerial events,assist the Operations Manager with formal correspondence, including Official Information Act requests,participate and actively contribute to the District Leadership team.This is a full time, 12-month fixed term role which can be based out of Auckland or Warkworth.
As a Senior Ranger, Community you'll be passionate about conservation and working with others to achieve conservation outcomes. You will be a community minded, empathic and driven individual who can work independently as well as part of a team. Identifying and managing risk opportunities are critical to this role, your ability to think strategically and act operationally will contribute to the successful planning and scheduling of work programmes across the district. You will complement these with the following:
have a good understanding of te reo Maori, tikanga and Te Tiriti Waitangi,be a confident communicator with excellent technical writing skills including the ability to create clear, well written content for complex information,excellent relationship building and collaboration skills and a proven experience partnering with a diverse range of stakeholders including iwi, community and business groups,have an understanding of community conservation work in the Auckland context,excellent planning, organising and decision-making skills,previous experience planning and tracking project and budgets,ability to stand their grounds but also navigate and balance differing perspectives while maintaining alignment with DOC goals,be able to see the big picture and to have enthusiasm to find workable practical solutions,current full New Zealand driver licence, including the ability to drive a manual vehicle.DOC places importance on developing a culture where everyone can participate, thrive, and grow. The salary range for this position is $79,656 to $100,639 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
