Our people are passionate about innovation and work together to push boundaries, making a difference for future generations.The OpportunityWe are looking for a Senior Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to join our team. You will be someone with a level of real-world practical and technical experience that enables you to work on complex solutions, bringing an innovative and commercially focused approach to our R&D environment. You will have opportunities to contribute to not just the technical work, but also the systems and processes required throughout the development cycle (from planning & conceptualization, through to prototyping, refinement, and ultimately full commercialization).We're looking for someone who brings the ability (and desire) to lead, coach, and mentor more junior members of our team in this space. You can look forward to working alongside talented engineers across multiple disciplines, at varying levels of expertise, sometimes working independently on technically complex solutions, and sometimes leading a workstream, module, or piece of work with others.Responsibilities:7+ years professional experience.Relevant tertiary qualification, e.g. Bachelor of Engineering or similar degree.Strong working knowledge of WiFi and related wireless hardware.Robust understanding of the theory behind wireless communications, antenna selection, noise, signal loss, diversity, etc.Robust understanding of network architecture.Practical network debugging and analysis skills across both layer 2 and layer 3 protocols.A high level of interpersonal skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Modelling and simulation – e.g. loss propagation models, coverage planning, etc.Digital communications protocols and signal conversion techniques.Certification & Compliance (e.g. UL, CE, FCC).Experience with mesh network algorithms, e.g. BATMAN-adv, Babel, HWMRP.This is a full-time/permanent role, that will initially be based at our offices in Newnham Innovation Park in Te Puna. Our manufacturing facility is located in Tauriko, and our people usually spend some time at both locations. Looking ahead to next year, our business is moving into one (new and custom-built) location, which is in Tauriko, so in the longer term, this would be the main location of work.Not always does a candidate need to meet every single skill or experience listed in an advert to be successful in a role.
