This is an exciting time at Watercare! This newly created role plays an integral part in shaping the future of Auckland's wastewater infrastructure! 
Reporting to the Team Lead - Wastewater Planning Delivery, the focus of this role is to deliver high value and complexity wastewater planning projects in line with Watercare's Asset Management Plan (AMP). Sitting in the Strategy and Planning unit, the Wastewater Planning Delivery team picks up projects from the business need stage and runs them through feasibility and the delivery of concept designs ahead of handover to our Detailed Design teams. This phase is critical to the shaping of the overall project implementation and addressing key technical and stakeholder requirements to ensure key risks are addressed prior to obtaining funding for subsequent phases.
The initial focus of this role will be the delivery of the feasibility phase of Watercare's Western Isthmus Water Quality Improvement Programme and ensuring its connectivity to the Central Interceptor tunnel and Healthy Waters' aligned programme of stormwater work. The programme has an overall capital value exceeding $700m.
Key responsibilities will include:
Progressing the delivery of planning activities associated with the AMP with a focus on highly complex and significant projects and programmes across our wastewater treatment plants and wastewater networks. Ensuring that the feasibility phases of our AMP are progressing in a cost-efficient manner and to schedule. You will be independently leading projects and identifying solutions, and delivering infrastructure and operational outcomes that meet our business, community, mana whenua, stakeholder and operational expectations. To be successful in this role, you will be a strong communicator who thrives on an environment where you are liaising with multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally. You are a problem solver who is self driven, and have a customer solutions focus.
Your skills and background also includes:
Tertiary level qualification (engineering, construction, sciences, planning, environmental)10+ years engineering and/or project management experience Management of consultant and contractors on multi-disciplinary projects Large scale project and programme financial and contract management Water industry experience is desirable, as is formal project management training.
