Next Generation Critical Communications (NGCC) are the government's lead advisor for critical communications (https://ngcc.govt.nz/about/). In August 2022 the government approved $1.4b investment to build and run the public safety network (PSN) for the emergency services over the next ten years. At the heart of the PSN is a new, modern and secure national digital Land Mobile Radio (LMR) network for emergency services to rely on as a network of last resort.
Mo te tunga | About the role We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to manage the interactions between NGCC, vendor and agency technical teams, ensuring each can efficiently and effectively fulfil their respective roles in delivering, and assuring the delivery of, the LMR network.

Your ability to be "hands on" managing complex projects or workstreams, engage with technical stakeholders effectively, and ensure adherence to delivery timeframes will be crucial for success in this role.

Key accountabilities: Work effectively as a member of the NGCC LMR project management team, project managing the LMR requirements and technical assurance workstream.Day-to-day management and support of interactions between NGCC, vendor and agency technical teams with a focus on forward planning, clarity of objectives and timely resolution of issues.Align project and BAU work management methods, planning, prioritisation, and resourcing.Manage LMR design and technical delivery issues or concerns.Maintain oversight and resolving obstacles regarding system integration between the network vendor and critical agency ICT systems.Provide further project management support to other workstream leads including authoring updates, option papers and other governance submissions.Create and maintain constructive relationships, aligned approaches, maintaining scope boundaries and resolving issues with technical stakeholders.

The NGCC Lead Entity has been established to coordinate and lead the investment in replacing and evolving the communications capability supporting and used by Emergency Services agencies frontline services.

The NGCC Lead Entity is an independent business unit hosted by New Zealand Police, governed by an independent Board. The Board membership includes an independent Chair and four subject matter expert Members, the Commissioner of Police, the Chief Executives of Emergency Services agencies and the National Emergency Management Agency, and a senior representative from The Treasury.

Skills and experience we are looking for: At least 5-10 years of project management experience with an established track record delivering complex radio, ICT, and/or telecommunication projects.A wider background and education in a related technical or engineering field, and proven ability to interact at a technical level with other subject matter expert resources.Very strong relationship management, dependency identification, problem solving and integrated planning skills.
