While we live and breathe procurement, our branch is a support function to those doing the mahi in the procurement system – government agencies and the suppliers and providers they work with. We are less of a procurement shop than a shop filled with data, systems, communications, contract and project management people who love procurement.

Tenei turanga - About the Role:
We are seeking an outstanding procurement specialist to work on a wide range of projects for the New Zealand Government.
The Advisory and Business Services team includes highly skilled deployable commercial specialists responsible for providing quality advice and support to government agencies on their significant commercial projects and work programmes. The current vacancy will have the opportunity to work on some external work and All of Government contract return to market activity. This is an opportunity to lead and contribute to the commercial strategy and sourcing activity for some of the largest and most widely used contracts across government.

Nga pukenga me nga wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills And Experience Required:
Appropriate experience in procurement and associated functions - preferably 5-8 years in a senior-intermediate level procurement role.
Understanding of Government Procurement policies and processes.
Excellent oral and written communication skills: demonstrated competence in effectively communicating ideas both orally and in writing to a wide variety of audiences.
Delivering major/significant procurement projects to scope, time and budget and achieving successful procurement outcomes.
Significant experience leading RFx processes and developing commercial strategies.
Rapidly and accurately identifies key risks, issues or actions in complex situations.
Capable and competent at presenting to government agencies at forums or in a workshop setting.
Demonstrating good government procurement practice. Providing advice on capability support.
Influencing earlier planning of procurement initiatives, using information and engagement to generate better outcomes for agencies.
Encouraging agencies to use existing collaborative contracts where they meet the needs of the agency.
Relevant qualification or membership in area of specialism or related business discipline – for example, MCIPS is desirable.
