Are you an experienced policy professional looking to gain first-hand experience as a Private Secretary? This is a unique opportunity for a Senior or Principal Policy Advisor to work closely with the Minister, managing a diverse portfolio and engaging with high-level stakeholders within a supportive team environment. This can either be a 12 Month or 18 Month Fixed Term Contract.
In this role, you'll be the right-hand person to the Minister, who values organisation and thoughtful insight. This position requires a steady, resilient professional who understands the dynamics of NZ government processes and thrives in a political setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing extensive policy advice directly to the Minister.
Building and maintaining strong, effective relationships with complex stakeholders across the government sector.
Supporting the Minister by providing timely, well-researched policy advice.
Navigating the peaks and troughs of government operations with flexibility and professionalism.
Collaborating with a team of experienced Private Secretaries, benefitting from a supportive and collegial environment.
Working office-based, with flexibility during recess weeks.
About You: You are an experienced policy advisor with 5 years+ experience, with a solid understanding of government processes and the resilience required in a political environment. While prior Private Secretary experience is not required, you should be confident in building rapport and managing relationships at all levels. Your organisational skills and strategic thinking will be key assets in supporting the Minister's priorities.
