In joining our team, you'll be able to take advantage of the amazing work opportunities that arise from the varied, challenging, and complex work we do for Poneke.We have an exciting opportunity for either a Senior or Principal legal counsel who specialises in construction law to lead and provide pragmatic, solutions focused legal advice to guide Council in its construction activities. The breadth and depth of the council's construction needs make this a unique opportunity full of fresh challenges to assist you in the development of your legal practice.The primary focus for this role is to manage the risk associated with Council's construction activities and advising and reporting to the senior leaders in the organisation.Responsibilities:Manage the risk associated with Council's construction activities.Provide strategic, solutions focused legal advice on all construction matters.Advise and report to the senior leaders in the organisation.Minimum Requirements:7+ years PQE working in a similar in-house role or private practice.Advanced contract drafting skills and understanding of the construction/infrastructure sector.Confidence to work autonomously in a highly political environment.Demonstrated commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and awareness of Maori perspectives.We are looking to appoint between $114,150 - $134,294 for a Senior or $134,807 - $158,596 for a Principal per annum, depending on relevant skills and experience.Working for the Council offers you a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, flexible working options, health and wellbeing support, Council staff discounts and a range of learning and development programmes and opportunities.Applications close 21 October 2024.
