Select how often (in days) to receive an alert:Senior Advisor Operational PolicyThe Senior Advisor Operational Policy position in the Resource Markets branch works with a range of subject matter experts to assess the feasibility of policy and technical changes being made to the regulatory system and ensure the successful implementation of these changes.The role is responsible for supporting development of legislation and regulations by providing advice on how to implement Policy settings. You will be experienced at interpreting legislation and translating new policy and substantial policy change into implementation plans and material such as clear operational policy, processes, and guidance.Your work will contribute to the responsible development and regulation of New Zealand's offshore renewable energy regime as well as the oil, gas, and mineral resource sectors.Nga pukenga me nga wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience RequiredExperience in interpretation and translation of legislation and regulation into operational policy and guidance.In-depth knowledge of regulatory management best practice, systems thinking, and regulatory stewardship concepts.Demonstrated ability to develop robust solutions that are viable for government, technically possible, and desirable for users and the community.Ability to develop guidance and implementation material that is fit for purpose and easily understood, to successfully implement new policy and substantial policy change.Understanding of human-centred design methodologies to provide implementation advice across policy and operational business units.Demonstrated general problem identification and solution skills and ability to develop robust solutions that are viable for government, technically possible, and desirable for users and the community.Demonstrated experience making connections across operational areas, regulatory systems, and between project and operational teams.Demonstrated competence in effectively communicating complex ideas both orally and in writing to a wide variety of audiences.Knowledge of public sector requirements and processes relating to financial and budgetary requirements, legislation, and regulatory change.Able to draw on broad knowledge to critically assess information from a wide variety of sources and identify implications for analysis and advice.Ability to identify and appropriately manage risks and issues.MBIE's goal is to create a resilient and high-performing economy that delivers real and ongoing quality of life for all New Zealanders.
