Experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapy Role at Starship Children's Hospital Part time / Full time considered Opportunity to continue your professional growth and develop your career Join our specialised Paediatric Pain team to provide care and assessment to tamariki and whanau The Opportunity Starship Child Health has an opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Paediatric Therapy team working part time in the Starship Chronic Pain Service and across the Starship inpatient wards.
We are a friendly, hard-working and skilled team, every day we provide complex pain assessment, specific pain management, therapy and support to children predominantly in an outpatient setting.
This is a permanent position (24-40 hours / week) and the role designation is dependent on experience.
Key Responsibilities: Provide an occupational therapy service to children and adolescents with persistent or recurrent pain conditions. Collaborate with the inter-professional team to provide a whanau-centred approach and demonstrate a robust level of contemporary occupational therapy theory and practice. Demonstrate culturally safe practice that encompasses a diverse range of beliefs, values and practices. Thrive within a vibrant, innovative and diverse setting amongst a supportive interdisciplinary team. Meet the needs of children and adolescents who have developed chronic pain as a result of an injury, illness, medical or surgical intervention. Support children with disabilities, including functional and/or psychological impairment. Facilitate a graduated rehabilitation programme from an inter-professional team that is beyond the capabilities of secondary services. Important Skills: NZ registration as an Occupational Therapist with current Annual Practicing Certificate. 4+ years of post-graduate clinical work experience. Experience working in paediatric rehabilitation or complex pain (advantageous). Proven experience working in paediatrics (desirable). Sound clinical reasoning skills and use of evidence-informed practice. Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary setting. Effective time management, prioritisation and organisation skills. Drive, energy and initiative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
