Pension Program with Sutherland Group matching contributions up to 100%, starting at 3%, increasing in graduated increments, and topping out at 5% after 8 years.Extended health benefits program through a cost-shared benefits planConfidential Employee Family Assistance ProgramHealth & Safety Policy & ProgramsKEY RESPONSIBILITIES Ensuring all actions incorporate "Sutherland Group Enterprise's Core Values" of Curious and Adaptable, Trustworthy, Humbly Confident, Better Together and Make it Happen.Lead the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Program and all applicable documentation.Provide leadership, mentoring and direction to managers, supervisors and employees in safety and incident prevention activities.Ensure Occupational Health and Safety roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, understood and acted upon by managers, supervisors, Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee members and all employees.Assist with the Modified Work Program, ensuring return-to-work plans are executed efficiently in a way that meets WSBC expectations and respects the worker.Ensure that regular inspections, hazard analysis, risk assessments and audits are conducted.Provide support and guidance during workplace investigations.Monitor incident reporting systems to ensure compliance with company and Government Regulatory requirements and identify patterns and trends that require interventions.Lead cause analysis activities to provide direction and recommendations on how to mitigate/control losses.Ensure an adequate corrective action process is applied to inspections, incident investigations, trend analysis, internal audits, and orders from regulatory bodies.Engage with the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, ensuring an effective and educated committee.Lead the analysis of records and statistical information, identifying trends and presenting findings and/or recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.Conduct, facilitate, and coordinate training sessions for management, supervisors, employees, Joint OHS Committee members, and new hires on Occupational Health and Safety practices, legislation, and industry changes.Provide leadership in the investigations of workplace incidents/accidents, ensure proper supporting documentation through training, coaching, mentoring, and leading investigations as required.Monitor changing regulations that affect the company; help structure/implement processes to address the changes.Lead and professionally develop direct reports (conduct one-to-ones, performance reviews, coaching & mentoring)REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS 10 years of experience in progressive OHS or Fleet Safety roles, with prior direct reportsComprehensive knowledge of Federal and BC Provincial Occupational Health and Safety legislationExceptional organizational, planning, and management skills.Preferred knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPointProven experience in technical writing, process, and procedure development.Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with critical thinking and analytical skillsMust maintain a valid Class 5 driver's license and the ability to travel to the USA.Understanding of, or experience in, transportation, forestry, or civil construction is an asset.Formal OHS Education is required ideally a Certificate or Diploma.CRSP is preferred.Considerable tact and discretion are required when dealing with team members, managers, and external enforcement authorities.JOIN THE TEAM If you think there's a fit, we look forward to meeting you and thank you in advance for your application.
