Senior Management Accountant Full-time The Senior Management Accountant position assists and supports the Management Accountant Team Leader with all budgetary financial processes, including the Long-Term Plan and Annual Plan. This role involves analyzing the financial performance of the Council, supporting the financial analysis of business cases, and leading change programs. Key responsibilities include forecasting, analyzing, and reporting on costs and funding streams related to operational management. The Senior Management Accountant also provides analysis and advice to all areas of the Gisborne District Council. Hybrid remote working arrangement available, work from anywhere in NZ & Gisborne - flights and accommodation paid. You'll recognize the importance of the role as a Treaty partner and understand how that underpins Gisborne District Council's work. Coordinate and manage the annual and long-term budgeting processes, as well as quarterly forecasting. Produce financial components of the Annual Report, Annual Plan, and Long-Term Plan (LTP) in conjunction with the Finance team, ensuring compliance with IPSAS and PBE standards. Analyze and report on monthly, interim, and annual financial results, focusing on major infrastructure projects such as Roading. Provide regular updates on the financial position and performance of the Council and specific projects. Coordinate financial aspects of construction projects and prepare forecasts to identify and mitigate potential cost overruns. CAANZ Chartered Accountant or other appropriate qualification. At least 5 years of professional or financial experience. Expertise in New Zealand Tax legislation and New Zealand tax practices environment. Strong leadership and management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively establish and build internal and external working relationships. Sound interpretive, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
