A Crown entity is seeking a lawyer to join their dynamic team! This position presents an opportunity to join a growing team, offering strategic legal counsel and support across all legal aspects pertinent to the organisation. It can be based in Christchurch or Wellington.What You'll DoAs a Manager, you'll be 2IC to the Head of Legal, offering support on delivering legal advice across a variety of areas, with 2 direct reports. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:Working on commercial contractsInterpreting relevant legislationProactively building relationships with key internal customers to build better understanding of the strategic contextSupporting greater visibility of the pipeline and progress of workManaging the timely delivery of litigation and legal opinionsEnsuring that systems and frameworks are in place for regular reportingYour experience will include working on complex legal issues, drafting contracts, interpreting contracts and giving legal opinions. You'll be comfortable working within and navigating the complexities of a high-paced and high-change environment.You'll also be managing a small team assisting with workload allocation and individual professional development. You will position the team to shape, define and respond to the future. Be it policy or service delivery, you will work effectively with others to figure out what the future should look like – and how to get there.What You BringWe are looking for someone with 10+ years of legal experience, preferably with some of that acquired in the public sector with a strong understanding of the machinery of government. Experience with commercial contracts and interpreting legislation is essential, but knowledge of the specific Acts related to this organisation will be considered a bonus.
