About the Role We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join the TSB legal team.
Reporting to the Associate General Counsel (Customer and Product), as Senior Legal Counsel you will act as a key advisor and partner to the business, providing effective legal guidance and leadership across our organisation and external stakeholders.
As Senior Legal Counsel in the Legal (Customer and Product) team, you'll work closely and collaboratively with our business partners to help TSB to deliver our award-winning products to our customers, and to continue to provide top-tier customer service.

Who are you?
As a member of a small but perfectly formed legal team you'll identify, understand, and advise on legal and compliance risks, and help ensure that our operations are compliant with relevant legislation.
This includes advising on consumer law matters, fair trading, consumer credit, business banking, financial advice, financial conduct, AML and/or FATCA.
Other responsibilities include supporting our commercial and SME business, reviewing contracts, negotiating and drafting product terms, reviewing marketing material and ensuring the business is informed about changes to existing legislation (or proposed new legislation) impacting on the operations of the business.
Specifically, you will be responsible for: Supporting the delivery of strategic and tactical legal initiatives Providing legal advice, support, and direction to the wider organisation Managing external legal relationships Providing advice in the development of corporate policies and procedures To succeed in this role, you will have: Bachelor of Laws and a current NZ Practicing Certificate with 8+ years PQE in financial services (in-house legal experience desirable but not essential).
Experience with financial services and consumer credit regulation, fair trading, commercial / business banking, and/or AML laws would be beneficial.
Broad technical experience and a proven ability to adapt to a wide-ranging set of legal matters.
Exceptional communication skills and a proven ability to influence.
Proven problem-solving capabilities.
