Senior Legal Counsel, Enforcement - Fixed Term Contract A great place to work. With great work to do.
Here at the FMA - Te Mana Tatai Hokohoko, you'll be helping to create a fair and transparent financial sector that serves all New Zealanders. You'll be making a difference by enabling New Zealanders to have confidence that our financial sector provides a strong, fair, and transparent foundation for their financial future.
We're looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our Enforcement team preferably in our Auckland office on a fixed term contract until the end of June 2025.
Our Enforcement team is responsible for all legal matters pertaining to FMA investigations and enforcement action in response to misconduct and contraventions of financial markets legislation.
In this role, you'll provide high quality legal advice in relation to investigations, litigation and other enforcement action, to ensure FMA's enforcement goals are achieved, and that the enforcement function reinforces FMA's reputation as a strong, effective, proactive and respected organisation.
This position is suited to an experienced solicitor with a litigation background. As this is a fixed term contract, we are looking for someone that can hit the ground running who will bring with them considerable post qualification experience, and a current practising certificate (or entitlement to one).
Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the financial services industry and of civil procedure (essential) or criminal procedure (desirable), but it will be your drive, enthusiasm and adaptability that will allow you to truly excel in this role. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will be just as important as your technical abilities.
We offer some great benefits including a 4% KiwiSaver contribution, paid leave over the Christmas period, a generous $1,500 refer a friend bonus as well as an ability to swap public holiday leave with other days that mean more to you.
We have exceptional learning and development opportunities such as access to expert leadership development, career and well-being support.
We believe a healthy work-life balance is important for everyone, so we have flexible working arrangements to support you in your life outside of work and have created a range of wellness and social activities for our people to connect and socialise.
We're committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic self to work each day.
