New Zealand Qualifications Authority – Wellington, North Island
Be part of the Customer Experience and Analytics team!
About the role
Are you passionate about e-learning? Do you want to make a difference to the way NZQA engages with our customers and staff, empowering them with what they want to know or should know and get skilled at, so they can do their job well? Are you keen to take NZQA's Learning Management System (LMS) from good to great? If yes, we are keen to hear from you.
The Senior Learning Designer role will be the Product Owner of NZQA's Learning Management System (LMS) and will work closely with other learning design and delivery specialists and other managers and staff across the organisation (and externally) to prioritise a backlog of learning modules that will be delivered via the LMS.
The Senior Learning Designer will have their eye on a key outside-in objective - ensuring that the learning products and services delivered via the LMS are having the desired outcome and are being perceived as value-adding by learners (customers or NZQA staff).
This role will also convene and chair an LMS Working Group across NZQA to assist in backlog development, carrying out and peer reviewing Learning Needs Analysis (LNA), peer reviewing LMS modules and evaluation of LMS modules/products.
The Senior Learning Designer will also design and develop LMS modules themselves or acquire modules from other education sector/government agencies or third parties. This role is collaborative with support and will work closely with a Systems Administrator, other Customer Experience (Cx) professionals, learning design experts, and subject matter experts.
Skills and experience
You are, first and foremost, absolutely customer-focused and fully understand that your role is aimed at ensuring that various learning products and services delivered via NZQA's LMS enable our customers and staff to be successful in doing their job well.
You are someone with lots of experience in learning design (particularly e-learning) and delivery, but more importantly, you know how to channel that experience constructively by bringing people along the journey. You know that other people may not constantly 'live in your world' so you know how to bring them along the journey towards best practice learning scoping and LNA followed by designing, delivering, and evaluating learning products (especially e-learning).
You would ideally have experience in the following:
At least 3 years of experience in learning design and/or instructional design.
Demonstrated understanding and experience in Cx and Ux practices.
Experience delivering online learning, preferably for adult/professional/corporate learners.
Practical experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g. Totara, Moodle), Articulate 360, Storyline 360, Rise 360, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office.
Experience and/or clear understanding of Learning Needs Analysis (LNA) process.
Digitally savvy especially in working seamlessly across various digital publishing tools.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including writing, editing, and proofreading.
An understanding of user experience (UX) principles and best practices.
Energy, enthusiasm, ownership, and a high level of grit and perseverance to see things through to the end.
Excellent conceptual and analytical skills, system thinking ability, self-directed work in an unstructured environment, and ability to deal comfortably with ambiguity and complexity.
Experience working with business owners and senior managers.
Good understanding of NZQA's landscape, priorities, and its customer needs.
