Te Mahi – About the job
RNZ is looking for an experienced journalist with a demonstrated ability to cover breaking news and generate original stories for radio bulletins, current affairs programmes and digital and social media platforms. You will be organised, efficient and reliable, using your initiative to report on a mix of stories that matter, along with strong, comprehensive coverage of breaking news in the Auckland region. You will be ready to hit the road, relying on key contacts and sources to drive story ideas and deliver first-class journalism.
You will:
Have superior writing, interviewing and live broadcasting skills
Have experience working as a journalist at a senior level
Bring accuracy, attention to detail, curiosity and creativity to your work
File written, audio and visual content to tight radio and digital deadlines
Understand the issues affecting Auckland
Be flexible and able to commit to shift work
