Do you have the skills to report on complex clinical and epidemiological data within the context of NZ's real-world health system, bringing statistics alive for professional and lay audiences? With your help, we can harness data to drive change and innovation that will make a difference for women with breast cancer.
Through our mahi with researchers, clinicians, health agencies, and patients, Breast Cancer Foundation NZ identifies opportunities for improvement and innovation in breast cancer detection, treatment, and patient support – all working towards our vision of zero deaths from breast cancer.
But nothing changes in the health system without data and evidence – which is why the reports we produce into how well NZ is doing in breast cancer (and what needs to change) are so important and so highly respected.
We've created a new role of Report Writer to help us produce these comprehensive reports, along with articles and other publications. The role involves interpreting statistics from the Breast Cancer Foundation National Register and academic literature, and reporting them in the real-world contexts of cancer care in Aotearoa and BCFNZ's strategic goals. You'll present written information in a clear, concise, and engaging manner for professional and lay audiences, collaborating with healthcare professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy and relevance.
To do this job you'll need:
Excellent secondary research, writing, and editing skills, ideally with experience in writing reports for professional audiences.
Ability to interpret and present complex health data in a clear and engaging manner.
Analytical and critical thinking that aligns academic data to real-world kaupapa.
Adaptability and flexibility.
You'll need to be a self-starter, able to work independently but enjoying being part of a high-performing team. Before applying, please take a look at our 30,000 Voices report ( https://bit.ly/3Y8nKX4 ) to see if the commentary component of this is the kind of work you can do as part of our research team.
If you think you may be right for us and we may be right for you, request the full position description and/or send your cover letter and CV to Adele Gautier (Head of Research & Strategic Programmes) at ****** . Applications close October 21, but interviews may start sooner.
Your application will include the following questions:
Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in New Zealand?
How would you rate your English language skills?
