We're looking for a Senior Infrastructure Compliance Advisor to join our team on a fixed term basis from early 2025 for approximately 14 months. We offer hybrid working practices, a host of employee benefits and a genuine commitment to your training and career development.

What you'll be doing / He aha te mahi
Supporting the Infrastructure Operations Manager (Property & Infrastructure) you will ensure QLDC's infrastructure assets and services meet environmental and public health obligations. This role spans the full infrastructure portfolio, including roading, three waters (drinking water, wastewater/sewerage, and stormwater), and solid waste.
As the manager of a small team (three direct reports) you will also be responsible for leading and supporting the personnel responsible for Drinking Water Compliance, Trade Waste consenting and Backflow prevention.
The role will involve:
Monitoring and reporting on compliance with environmental, public health, and resource management regulations, including the New Zealand Drinking Water Standards, Water Services Act and the Resource Management Act.
Collaborating with regulatory bodies, contractors, and stakeholders to protect public health and the environment.
Leading education and policy support initiatives to promote water sustainability, environmental protection, and public health.
Oversight of the trade waste consenting process.
Team leadership and mentoring.
What you'll bring to the role / Ko wai to Pukeka
You will have a minimum of five years' experience in administering and applying local authority regulations or similar, with a solid understanding of information systems. You will possess strong analytical skills, enabling you to interpret data and develop practical solutions. Experience in quality assurance and risk management is essential, as well as proven success in leading and managing teams to achieve operational goals.
To best succeed in this role, you'll have:
Tertiary degree in a related discipline, i.e. Bachelor of Science, Environmental Science, or similar required.
Experience with compliance and consenting within a Council or regulatory environment.
Experience with the Resource Management Act and the Drinking Water Quality Assurance Rules.
Knowledge of public works infrastructure desirable.
A great attitude and a desire to interpret data to ensure the protection of the community and the environment.
A collaborative approach and genuine desire to get the best out of people.
