Purpose As Maintenance Technician, you take DIY to a whole new level. You might have a trade specialty but really, there's nothing you can't turn your hand to whether it's plumbing, carpentry, painting, planting and more. You roll up your sleeves and make the most of whatever comes your way, with a positive mindset, problem-solving ability and your upbeat attitude.
Primary Responsibilities You're an all-round fix-it person! You will complete general maintenance and repairs to guestrooms in accordance with your trade skills and qualifications, i.e., small carpet repairs, unblocking minor sink and floor wastage blockages, changing light bulbs, small repairs to tiles, tuning television and any similar tasks.
Maintenance of all services such as domestic hot water, cold water, BMS, HVAC etc. ensuring all daily logs and records are completed and maintained as required.
Complete routine cleaning of air conditioning filters, plant rooms and equipment as designated, and participate in routing preventative maintenance checks.
You apply strong time management and prioritisation to execute and complete the daily maintenance log and activity list, escalating tasks requiring further follow-up / action.
During your daily rounds, you identify, rectify and record any maintenance issues.
Routine preventative maintenance checks are conducted on schedule across all areas of the hotel.
You coordinate contractors (including after-hours) and assist tradesmen when required and approved.
Cleanliness and housekeeping of plant rooms, spare parts and equipment is always maintained.
Assist engineering management by sourcing minor quotations as needed – submitting to your Manager for approval before proceeding.
On shift, you're always on-call for urgent maintenance / repair requests.
Where circumstances prevent attending to urgent matters, you advise the manager on duty to obtain additional assistance so that matters can be dealt with as quickly as possible and you always follow-up.
Within your technical expertise, you challenge the process by consistently exploring new suppliers and contractors to enhance plant and machinery.
Health and safety is key – you're always on the look out for any hazards which should be reported timely, and ensure all work health and safety procedures and policies are followed.
Your communication is unrivalled, and you always provide a clear and concise information to others as needed and during shift handover.
Teamwork makes the dream work! You're happy to cross train within other departments throughout your hotel and will jump in and help out (within your scope and capability) during peak busy times.
You drive team engagement, fostering a positive and enjoyable workplace culture throughout the hotel.
Keep your Manager informed of any problems and unusual matters.
This isn't an exhaustive list – your Manager may have other reasonable tasks, projects or instructions on occasion.
Skills, Experience and Requirements You possess appropriate Industry Trade Qualification and (ideally) Occupational Health & Safety qualifications/skills.
You (ideally) have a Testing & Tagging licence.
You have (ideally) 1-2 years' experience in a similar role in a similar size property.
You can physically meet the demands for this role, including:
Frequent kneeling, bending and squatting.
Frequent standing and walking short distances.
Overhead reaching and frequent upper limb movements whilst tending to lights, fixtures and plant equipment.
Climbing stairs and ladders.
Frequent gripping, lifting (from floor to waist height and vice versa) and carrying ladders and equipment ( Occasional fine motor skills and hand dexterity to operate computer, including mouse and keyboard, as well as answering and placing phone calls.
Immaculately presented – you have exceptional grooming and always wear the appropriate uniform and name badge, with pride! You make sure your team always look the part too.
Exceptional communication skills - Multilingual would be viewed as an advantage, with spoken and written English at a proficient level.
You have high level attention to detail with ability to thorough and accurately focus on all elements of a task or situation, to ensure precise examination.
