Position: Senior Information Security Adviser Salary Band: BTIS Salary Band D: $109,786 to $128,433 depending on skills and experience We are looking for a Senior Information Security Adviser to join our growing information security team.
This role sits within our Security & Privacy Directorate under the Corporate Services Branch.
We are looking for someone with a good level of demonstrable experience in Information Security.
You will focus on carrying out security risk assessments and other certification and assurance activities on a range of projects and initiatives being delivered throughout the Ministry ensuring appropriate information security measures are in place.
You will work with the IT Security Manager (ITSM) to develop and improve the C&A process so that it continues to support the Ministry's needs.
You will also support and assist the Information Security Advisors and Analysts within the team as well as developing and delivering staff security education and awareness, responding to information security incidents, staff requests and queries, and supporting our detection and response capability.
Key Responsibilities: Working with business and system owners to understand what risks their system may pose and how these may be managed or mitigated.
Reviewing supporting documentation and collecting evidence of controls to ensure it is complete and correct.
Advising on any changes to risk or threat profiles and making recommendations on remedial activities to manage any changes.
Support the continuous development of internal C&A processes as well as supporting information security advisors and analysts.
Support key organisational information security practices (such as Detect and Respond, Endpoint Security Enhancements and Secure by Design).
Monitor and provide advice on local and global information security threats and risks.
Support the wider information security team, Service Desk, and Security Operations Centre in responding to information security incidents.
Promote information security awareness to create and support a 'security aware culture.'
Communicate effectively and build collaborative working relationships with MPI's people and vendors at all levels.
Minimum Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background and experience in information security and system assurance practices.
You will have solid experience in Certification and Assurance processes.
You will need to be agile, adaptable, and quick to pick things up.
We need you to have a can-do attitude, be a team player, strong on systems and processes, pragmatic and able to deal with ambiguity.
You will be comfortable engaging in discussion and evidence your views on security topics.
You will be open to views that challenge your ideas and take on new information to form the best way forward.
You will also be customer centric with great communication skills and enjoy working as part of a fun and dynamic team.
It would be beneficial if you hold a recognised Information Security certification such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA, but this is not essential.
Security Checks: Low level Security Clearance Most preferably a New Zealand citizen, who has resided continuously in New Zealand for at least the last five (5) years, OR is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five (5) years: either Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
