About the Organisation
This role will suit a senior advisor wanting to step into a business partner role/someone with experience at business partnering level, who wants to continue their hands-on operational influence and toolkit, in a large, well-established business, where they continue to coach, develop and enhance safety culture and expertise at all levels.
You will have the opportunity to report to a supporting and positive challenger, as a Health and Safety leader, who will look to you for specialist insights, provide you with high ownership and autonomy in your role and support you in your growth / career pathway.
About the Role:
You will coordinate health & safety programs, perform audits, investigations and provide advice and support on health & safety issues, monitor risks and advise staff on how to eliminate and promote the maintenance of a safe working environment, which promotes Health and Safety, in all aspects and delivery.
You will ensure strong safety policies and procedures and thinking drives positive actions, at all levels of the organisation. You will review and continue to evolve an existing people and safety strategy, which focuses on enhancing employee safety and wellbeing, developing people, driving performance and leading change through mentoring and coaching. Overall, fostering a platform of growth, inspiring and developing people to reach their potential at work and keep themselves and others safe whilst doing this.
Success in this role will depend on your ability to:
Implement and evaluate effective interventions to build capability in health and safety
Facilitate injury management, incident and health and safety reporting and systems management
Oversee an audit programme across all parties in scope and ensure remedial actions are taken to maintain and lift all health and safety systems
Work across the business to influence and improve the effectiveness of health and safety focus
Collaborate and build relationships across the business, whilst staying connected across industry, with a keen interest in trends, thinking and NZ/global H&S methodologies.
Contribute to H&S plans and development with your leader and the business
Identify and implement initiatives to improve, maintain a safety culture, which is business-led and supported/informed through your specialist knowledge and influence and relates and is communicated at the right levels and across a diverse range of people
About You/ Qualifications & Experience:
A relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety/ OSH
Strong technical health and safety and regulatory legislation knowledge and experience, and a background or any experience in retail, hospitality and/or construction will be beneficial/highly regarded
3-5 years within Health & Safety Advisory/ Business Partner roles, with demonstrated agility and a growth mindset
Proven ability to operate within diverse environments, relate to people at all levels of an organisation and from all walks of life and someone who enjoys being out and operational, at the front line with people to influence and coach
Skills:
Strong relationship building ability and open communication style, with the ability to challenge in a positive way
A high level of energy and motivation with a desire to achieve outcomes, with high self-drive
Ability to achieve outcomes by influencing others and with a coaching and learning agile approach (Safety 2/ Safety Differently Mindset)
Additionally, you will have the ability to create meaningful connections from data, legislation and case studies and deliver in a way that people can relate to and will drive positive cultural impact and ownership in H&S.
