Role Overview:         As the Senior Financial Controller, your role is essential in managing and overseeing financial operations within our organisation for projects and financial reporting, based out of Auckland. You will report directly to the Finance Director, and your primary focus will be on financial management, project reporting, day to day finance overview, reporting and ensuring compliance with local regulations and standards.
Your role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams, providing financial insights, and supporting decision-making processes.
Responsibilities: Project Management tasks: Streamlining Project Financial Management. Bridging the gap between PMO team and Finance team by clearing out any lapses in the flow of data Performing Project Wash ups- From inception of a project to various stages of completion, data is captured correctly and can be used for financial reporting.Ensuring that Invoices are prepared and submitted in accordance with the contracts.Improve the processes currently in place, ensure more controls are placed and roles and responsibilities are clearly outlined to PMO team.Analysing and solving queries raised by Finance in Financial ForecastingChecking if Internal/ Externa Variations are properly raised. Financial Management and Compliance: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports in compliance with local financial regulations and reporting requirements.Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.Monitor and maintain compliance with local financial regulations.Collaborate with external partners to fulfil financial obligations, seeking opportunities for optimization. Financial Analysis and Reporting: Analyse financial data, highlight trends, and identify areas for improvement.Prepare and present financial reports to support decision-making processes.Support the Finance Manager in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.Collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment with financial objectives.Ensure proper reports are generated from system for Financial forecasting and reporting.Preparation of Budgets, forecast reports, etc required by key management personnelClosely monitoring the Actuals against Forecast and reporting differences to HO. Process Improvement and Controls: Assess and improve existing financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance and safeguard company assets.Streamline financial reporting procedures and automate processes where possible to reduce manual efforts.Monitor key financial metrics to identify opportunities for optimization and cost savings.Assess and improve existing financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance and safeguard company assets.Streamline financial reporting procedures and automate processes where possible to reduce manual efforts.Monitor key financial metrics to identify opportunities for optimization and cost savings. Payroll Management: Serve as a backup for maintaining employee records, processing payroll fortnightly. Professional Development: Actively participate in ongoing professional development to stay updated on financial regulations and best practices.Collaborate with cross-functional teams and encourage a culture of financial prudence and excellence.Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus. Qualifications and Skills: Proven experience in finance or accounting roles, with a strong understanding of financial management and compliance.Knowledge of financial regulations and reporting requirements.Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey financial information effectively. Proficiency in financial software systems (e.g., XERO, SAP) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
