Led by a Manager with lots of great experience, the team are focussed on growing their skills and knowledge while continually looking to improve.We want someone to join our team helping us ensure we have quality internal controls, smooth accounting processes and operations, adequate safeguards over financial assets, and ensuring the integrity of financial information.The Role and YouWe are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join us and play a leading role within a team of subject matter experts ensuring the Council meets its statutory reporting requirements.You will play a key role in the provision of the statutory financial statements for Council and the Group and ensure a smooth interim and year-end audit process. This will involve collaborating with stakeholders across Council to ensure we have the appropriate information for financial reporting.In this role you'll provide expert analysis and advice across a range of accounting issues and complete standard Senior Financial Accountant tasks such as month end journals and balance sheet reconciliations. You will also be a key player in the financial accounting for our Treasury investments and borrowings, daily cash management and work alongside the Treasury team ensuring the Council meets all payment obligations.In addition to being technically strong, you will play an important part in providing coaching and mentorship within the team. You will be an enthusiastic, collaborative, and driven person and take pride in your role of safeguarding the integrity of the general ledger.Supported by a Manager who has a relaxed and supportive approach, you will come in from day one as a valued team member and have the opportunity to grow within your role and the wider team. Engaging effectively with external and internal stakeholders to understand and respond to their perspectives and needs is an important aspect to this role as is your ability to work inclusively with people from different backgrounds and with different abilities.You will be a Chartered Accountant (or equivalent) and bring over 5 years' experience in working in large complex financial accounting environments. You'll be highly competent working with Excel and navigating accounting systems plus have excellent communication skills enabling you to communicate accounting and other issues to a range of stakeholders.
