Utilise your leadership and coordination skills in this pivotal role, contributing positively to New Zealand's Mental Health, ACC, Tourism and Hospitality, Youth, and Associate Health and Transport sectors.
The opportunity:
Hon Matt Doocey, Minister for ACC, Mental Health, Tourism and Hospitality, Youth, Associate Minister of Health, and Associate Minister of Transport, is looking for an experienced Senior Private Secretary. In this influential role, you will lead a dedicated, high-performing team supporting Minister Doocey in the 54th Parliament. This unique and rewarding position operates in a high-impact, fast-paced environment.
This is an events-based position based on the present parliamentary term. The likely appointment range for this role is $110,000 - $141,000 per annum, with starting salaries reflecting relevant skills and experience, as well as internal parity.
What skills or experience would I need to be successful?
Proven experience in managing and leading high-performing teams, demonstrating strong people management skills
Extensive knowledge of government operations and experience with complex legislative and policy frameworks
Interest or experience in Minister Doocey's portfolios is advantageous
Familiarity with public sector requirements, processes, codes, and guidelines, including financial and business management
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships within the Minister's team and with key stakeholders
Excellent risk management skills, with a proactive approach to anticipating and mitigating risks, ensuring a "no surprises" environment
Ability to work and solve problems quickly, demonstrating positivity, maturity, and resilience.
In this role, your leadership will be crucial in fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment, ensuring the Minister's office operates smoothly and effectively. Your ability to manage people, inspire confidence, and maintain a positive team dynamic will be key to your success.
