As a Senior Development Engineer, you will provide technical engineering expertise and leadership across all asset types to the Development Engineering Team and work collaboratively with all Teams across Council.Key responsibilities include:Strategic Planning Input: Collaborate with the Development Engineering Manager and Asset Managers to offer guidance and technical support regarding actual district growth.Pre-consent application advice: Represent the Development Engineering Manager at meetings with potential developers and their consultants to discuss and provide technical guidance.Resource consent approval: Review and assess the engineering component of resource consent applications to ensure that the proposal is acceptable to Council in principle.Engineering Approval: Provide technical input and guidance for all Engineering Approval applications and ensure that all assets vested to Council are high quality that will benefit the community.Flood Assessment Certificates: Review and approve all technical reports and designs associated with Flood Hazard mitigation in accordance with the District Plan requirements.About you:With a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or (Natural Resources), you will ideally have extensive experience with engineering design/construction across multiple disciplines.You will also have:10 plus years of managing relationships across a variety of stakeholders (consultants, developers, customers, contractors).Demonstrable engineering problem-solving skills with 10 years or more of design and/or review experience.Accurate analysis of numerical data and experience working with digital systems.Eye for detail and be detail-oriented.Local Government Experience is desirable.Working knowledge of relevant standards and legislation (NZS4404, the Resource Management Act, NZS5828, etc.).Experience with resource consenting.What we can offer:Life Insurance.Annual paid Wellbeing and Volunteer Days.Great work-life balance with flexibility.Career coaching and development.Three days paid leave between Christmas and New Year.Two weeks paid Partners Leave.Sick leave from day one.Discounts with local and national businesses.About us:Selwyn is one of the fastest-growing districts in New Zealand.
